Superintendent Lonnie Smith, Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Superintendent Lonnie Smith Sr. was born December 12, 1947 in Portageville, Missouri and raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan where he attended Benton Harbor area schools. Lonnie enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and received an honorable discharge. For the past 40 years, he was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana. He was the pastor of Fountain of Life Church of God in Christ in Hammond, Louisiana in the Louisiana Eastern 2nd Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. He was also a retiree of Lewis Grocer/SuperValu and the Tangipahoa Parish Council Road and Bridge Department. He passed away peacefully at North Oaks Medical Center on February 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alberta Smith; two sisters, Lottie Smith and Rudell Nelson; and two brothers, John and Robert Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 54 years, Ida Lee Price Smith; their children, Lonnie Jr., Danita, and Lashunda Smith, Jason and Darren Thomas, and Carlos Price; ten grandchildren, Yazmyn Smith, Roneshia (Deandre) Lewis, Portrice (Antony) Martin, Jessica, LaQuita, and Darren Thomas, and Jeramee, Keaira, Daris, and Asia Price, nine great-grandchildren, three brothers, eleven sisters; and three goddaughters along with a host of extended family, friends, church family, former co-workers, and community members.
