Mark David Bazile

Mark David Bazile was born on December 12, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Leo Bazile, Sr. and the late Sedia Edinburgh Bazile. His early influences include maternal grandparents, the late Cornelius Edgar Edinburgh, the late Colestine Jones Edinburgh, and great-grandmother Beulah Edinburgh Carter. Mark was the sixth of Leo's twelve children. Mark was loved by his siblings: Kenneth Bazile (Shelita); the late Keith Bazile; Shawn Bazile; Dionne Bazile; Yolanda Boutte (Bobby) and Lucrece Bazile-Philips all of New Orleans, Leo Bazile Jr; Leroy Bazile; Betty Bazile Knox(Craig); the late Reggie Eddie, all of Oakland California and Brenda Eagleton Ward of San Fransisco. Mark’s adopted family includes Freddy Ross aka “Big Freedia”, and his beloved dog, Bella. He was a well-loved uncle and great-uncle to a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was loved by many family, friends, clients, and acquaintances all over the world! The Bazile family returned home to New Orleans, where Mark was fortunate to receive his early childhood education, from The Martinez School. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Elementary School in 1977. Mark attended St. Augustine High School and Joseph S. Clark High School, where he graduated in 1981. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and Sidney Collier Vocational Technical School, and received a cosmetology license. After age 40, Mark enrolled in the City College of San Francisco Floristry Degree Program. Mark was a unique individual with special creative gifts and talents that only come from God. Mark was a hair stylist, floral designer, decorator, set designer, choir director, fashion model, and an all-around creative genius. No one directed a choir like him! Mark began singing gospel at an early age. His affiliations included The Gospel Soul Children; Tyrone Foster and the Arc Singers; The Holy Hill Gospel Singers; Raymond A. Miles Singers(RAMS), and many others. Mark served as a culture bearer for New Orleans and left an impression on any room he entered. His many creative accomplishments include: serving for many years as an artist/designer at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festivals, Essence Festivals, and Second-line parades; and float artist for Blaine Kern Mardi Gras World. Mark was the floral designer for the Meeting of the Courts between the Krewes of Rex and Comus, the last act of the Mardi Gras Carnival season each year. Mark was featured on WWL -TV Naturally N'awlins with Frank Davis transforming the main lobby of the former Fairmont Hotel now The Roosevelt, into a “Winter Wonderland”. His model is recreated every year letting you know Christmas has arrived in New Orleans. Mark had a heart of gold and would help anybody he could. Soon after Hurricane Katrina flooded the city, Mark found a boat and rescued several elderly and disabled neighbors. After relocating to San Francisco after Hurricane Katrina, he began designing showrooms for Macy’s San Francisco. He transformed any space he decorated. Mark left his mark on individuals, The City of New Orleans, and The World. Mark lived a dynamic life and left this earth peacefully. On Saturday, February 4, 2023, Mark David Bazile was called home to rest in eternal peace.
