Delores Sibley

Delores Toefield Sibley, a devoted woman of faith, loving mother, and pillar of strength, was born on January 28, 1956, to the late Edward Toefield Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Toefield. She transitioned from this earthly life into eternal glory, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to God. Delores was a proud graduate of Independence High School in Independence, Louisiana. At an early age, Delores surrendered her life to Jesus Christ, became a born-again believer, and was baptized at Israelite Baptist Church. She walked faithfully with the Lord throughout her life and later served as a devoted member of Lively Hope Church of God. With a humble spirit and willing heart, she advanced the Kingdom through service, steadfast faith, prayer, journaling, and devotion to the Word of God. On April 18, 1980, Delores united in holy matrimony with Claude E. Sibley. From this union, six children were nurtured, loved, and raised in strength and faith: Dr. Katina (Dr. Willie) Brooks, David Butler, Chastity (Demetrius) Edmond, Claude A. Sibley, Daryl Alford, Tony Alford, and Godson Jermaine Toefield (April). Her children were her pride and joy, and she poured into them wisdom, care, and unconditional love. She was a proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. Delores leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved husband, Claude E. Sibley of 46 years: sisters, Barbara Toefield; Tyler Chester, Pearl Chester and Cora; brothers Donald (Mary) Toefield and Charles Toefield; Two sisters-in-law, Ora Sibley Burton and Mary Alice Sibley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Toefield Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Toefield; her siblings: Edward Toefield Jr., Ida Mae Toefield, Luther Toefield, Joyce Toefield, and Ray Lee Chester; nephews: Michael Sibley, Donald “Boo” Toefield, Robert Henry; nieces: Sheletha Cole, Jackie Harrington, Earnestine Toefield Delores will be remembered as a virtuous woman whose life reflected the love of Christ. Her strength, kindness, and faith were a guiding light to all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us in the natural, we rejoice in knowing that she now rests in the presence of the Lord. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…” Matthew 25:23 Her legacy shall live on through every life she touched.
