Deacon Alfred Wilson

Deacon Almed's earthly journey began on December 15, 1940. He was the first of eight children born to the late Albert and Mable Wilson. On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the Master summoned His faithful servant from labor to reward. Alfred was reared in the Wilmer community and was affectionately called "Brother' by his parents and siblings. He accepted Christ and joined Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. D.J. Johnson. After graduating from Westside High School in 1959, he began working at Baton Rouge General Hospital. In 1963, he decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, he relocated to San Francisco, CA. On November 26, 1965, he was joined in holy matrimony by Henrietta Jackson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They were blessed with three beautiful children: Fredrick, Landry, and Stephanie. The family later moved to San Jose, CA, where Alfred became a Deacon at True Vine Baptist Church. After 14 years of employment with Ora Wheat Bakery, he embarked on a new career in the shipping and receiving department at LifeScan, a Johnson and Johnson Company, where he retired in the early 2000s. He was involved in many organizations, including Prince Hall Freemason, Shriners, The Legionnaires, and Stockton Old Timers Social Club. Alfred was very active in his children's lives, attending all their activities including cheerleading, Girl Scouts, football, and baseball practices and games. Alfred shared and enjoyed many travel adventures with his family, visiting places such as Canada, the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Park. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren, gardening, fishing, tinkering with cars, and engaging in outdoor activities. His kind and humble spirit, along with fond memories, will live in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by two sons, Fredrick L. Wilson (Daphne) of Kentwood, LA, and Landry E. Wilson of Stockton, CA; one daughter, Stephanie L. Wilson of Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, Tanesa K. Calhoun of CA; four grandsons, Fred A. Nelson, Marquez D. Nelson, Landry S. Wilson (Krystal), and Marcel Wilson (Kierra), all of CA; eleven great-grandchildren, Yniah, Fred, Andrea, Zymir, Jaliyah, Jayde, Jalaya, Zaniyah, Selaey Marcel Jr., and Zyriah, all of CA; one brother, Orby K. Wilson Sr. (Judy); four sisters, Lola Williams, Celestine Tucker (Tyrone), Sundra Bickham Jimmie), Sonja Badon (Michael), all of LA; one uncle, Wade Wilson (Willie) of LA; two aunts, Jane Wilson William, and Hazel Evans, all of LA; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Patrick Sr. (Betty), and Roosevelt Patrick (Janine), all of CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Deacon Alfred will be greeted by his wife of 52 years, Henrietta Wilson; his parents, Albert and Mable Wilson; two sisters, Mae Doria McAllister and Wilva Lathen; one daughter-in-law, Mindy Wilson and one grandson, Randel Wilson.
